Felicity Byrne

Hi! I’m Fliss. 

I’m an illustrator and surface pattern designer. I create playful, quirky, and rhythmic pieces for textile designers, children’s book authors, creative business owners, advertising, stationery makers, and more. 

I was an architect for 15 years and now work with what truly makes my heart beat: drawing! I love it. 

My illustrations simply and instantly convey feelings and special moments in time. I work with a sense of innocence and child-like delight, balanced with depth and thought. Possibility, magic and joy are threaded into the worlds I draw.

This delight particularly comes alive in my children’s book illustrations and designs for kids apparel, textiles, and bed linens. 

Light is a huge inspiration for me (I’m a little obsessed!) and love to explore tonal studies as I complete a piece. I find inspiration from nature and quirky ideas that pop out of nowhere. I love being given juicy client briefs where my imagination can dive, fly and experiment to find the perfect image. 

People are often surprised by how quickly I produce concepts through to polished pieces. I guess that’s my love of drawing (and geekery) powering me.
